Hello, question regarding D1 and Windows Vista 64bit Edition... - FireIceTalon - 12-29-2008 Hey all, I got a new Sony dual-core laptop for x-mas, and of course me being the hardcore gamer I am I had to put d1 on it :) I installed D1 just fine and transfered all my char files from my old comp to the new one, and they are there, but I cannot connect to Bnet for some reason. It gives me the message: "Bnet was unable to indentify your application version, please uninstall and reinstall the application if you continue to have problems you have have a virus contact blizzardsupport.com blah blah blah" before I can even get into the character selection screen, though I was able to connect to modem and direct cable just fine. now, my old computer, for reference was a Pentium 4 Fujitsu that used Windows XP as the OS. The new computer runs Vista 64bit. Does anyone else use Vista 64bit and logging onto bnet isnt a problem? Thanks for any suggestions/help in advance. Hello, question regarding D1 and Windows Vista 64bit Edition... - Nystul - 12-29-2008 I have 64 bit Vista, and Diablo (after being manually patched to drtl109) connects to b.net without any problems. IPX/LAN mode might be a different story, but b.net should not be a problem. Other than that, I'm afraid I don't have much advice to offer. So the patch it makes you install once you actually install the game and try to log on is rendered useless on Vista 64 it seems. I went to the Blizz site and looked at the patches but im not 100% sure which one is the correct one to install, heres the link if ya could a quick look. http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml...d=&pageNumber=1 I was thinking probably the 1.09 [World] but hell if I know....thx again. Hello, question regarding D1 and Windows Vista 64bit Edition... - Nystul - 12-29-2008 It's just a bunch of mirrors for the same files. This one would be fine: http://ftp.blizzard.com/Pub/diablo/patches/pc/drtl109.exe I'd uninstall, do a clean install, run the patch, transfer your characters, and then try to log onto b.net (and make sure your firewall let's Diablo do it's thing). Looks like ima have to stick with the old comp for my gaming purposes. Thanks anyway..... For starters, let's verify that the Diablo binaries you have installed are the correct ones for v1.09. The main files to look at are Diablo.exe, Storm.dll, and Battle.snp. For each of those, what is the file size and what is the SHA1 sum of the file? You could also compare whether these files on your XP system match the files on your Vista system.
