For a warrior what is the best armor, weapons and spells to have?

Bastard Sword or Flail. Biggest, baddest one-handed weapons you can hold and still attain the benefit of a shield. Though some will say 'poo' on the Flail (due to the presence of Lava Maws in the Hell levels of the game), it'd be stylin'.
Shield is, bottom line, the best idea to go for protective gear. Warriors have the fastest blocking rates of the characters, so it makes more sense to have a shield than to forsake it for weapons like axes, staves, or bows. You'll kill plenty fast with a decent bastard sword--the Great Axe comes with bigger liabilities than what its increased damage will offer in return.
Unique items are--not quite that Unique, in my opinion. Most come tacked with negative stats as well as positive ones, and the positive stats usually do not blow you away with their studly greatness. Some notable execptions: the Royal Circlet, Stormshield, Windforce, and Civerb's Cudgel.
