A good rolePlaying game - Zaek, The Outcast - 06-03-2003 hey this site is really cool its a sweet game with animals www.Furcadia.com check it out if ur an animal lover A good rolePlaying game - Bolty - 06-03-2003 This is nothing but an overglorified chat room... -Bolty A good rolePlaying game - ShadowHM - 06-04-2003 Did you even bother paying attention to the reply you got to the first post you made? Strike one was the first post - posting without bothering to check your audience and the standards here. Strike two in this thread - you STILL don't seem to have a clue how to write an actual sentence. Let me spell it out as clearly as possible. Sentences start with a capital letter. They end with a period. Spelling is important. 'Ur' is not an acceptable abbreviation for 'you are'. This is a forum. It is not a chat site. Learn how to write proper English. There are many here who are not native English speakers, and they still manage to hit the mark in Lurker Lounge standards. You have no excuse for missing it. A good rolePlaying game - WarLocke - 06-04-2003 I'm tempted to link an SA-style image macro here... A good rolePlaying game - BobThePumpkin - 06-04-2003 Calm down, P- ...oh, you aren't Pete  A good rolePlaying game - goldfish - 06-04-2003 Heh. I think that post may be new evidence that Shadow is actually one of the members of P.E.T.E., the shadowy conspiracy which sometimes posts as "Pete".* --- * I think that P.E.T.E. may stand for "People Eviscerating Trolls Everywhere" but that's just a hunch. For all I know, it may be "People for the Ethical Treatment of Eggplant." B) A good rolePlaying game - Roland - 06-04-2003 It hurts my eyes just lurking here. I've shut off any nerve signals from my optical nerves to my brain, so at least I don't have an embolism every 5 seconds when I try to read something on this forum, but it's still killing my eyesight. I thought I was near-sighted before? HA! I'd better start growing wings and a furry body, cause I'm a damn bat these days. :P Plus, it fits with the whole "creature of the night" motiff I got going on. ;) Ah, the wonders of insomnia. :P A good rolePlaying game - kandrathe - 06-04-2003 Sometimes the Lounge is like a role playing game. :) Troll hunters... Do they have a newsletter? Bumpersticker? I'd LOVE a bumpersticker. I am sick and tired of complaining to people who not only don't care how they write, but feel that I should keep my mouth shut - that I'm] the one doing something wrong. God I love this forum! A good rolePlaying game - Elric of Grans - 06-04-2003 Hail Nico, To be a Pete, you have to specialise in a field that one of the already existing Petes does not handle; you must also lose you identity and merely be known as Pete. (run a search on the old fora for `The Pete Conspiracy' for numerous threads on what we are talking about) A good rolePlaying game - ShadowHM - 06-04-2003 Surely that does not preclude apprentices, journeymen and general fans from having bumper stickers? I am still working my way through the apprenticeship, but a bumper sticker would be a nice incentive to keep plugging away. :D A good rolePlaying game - Zaek, The Outcast - 06-05-2003 edited A good rolePlaying game - ithil - 06-05-2003 The problem with that little directed string of epithets is you just pissed the admins off as well. You were warned by several members. You chose to ignore those warnings. Be aware that this is a small community and the sentiments of members and admins tend to be shared. Flagrant belligerence and disregard for your fellow posters is a surefire way to be swiftly banned. Or you could always take the high road. A good rolePlaying game - Nicodemus Phaulkon - 06-05-2003 Wow... you've managed to hit about 7 of the "How to write like a wanker" rules all in the space of two posts on a single thread. Talent plus! Buh bye, jerk. Or should I say "Geak"? A good rolePlaying game - Grayloch - 06-05-2003 How to make a great impression at the Lurker Lounge: 1. Don't bother to read the Rules, FAQ, or Elric's etiquette guide. Those are for losers who aren't 1337. 2. Begin posting right away. Don't bother to lurk for a while or read anyone else's posts to get a feel for what these forums are all about. Just jump right in. 3. Post a bunch of drivel in the most annoying manner possible. That's sure to impress us. 4. Mouth off at the regulars when they try to give you some friendly, helpful advice. Who do these people think they are, anyway? </sarcasm> I think you're about to live up to your nickname... -G. A forum is like a community centre. It is hosted by the 'admins', but the community is what makes it work. Evey community is different, with different goals as well as standards. Those who come to hang out at the community centre accept a contract, just by entering the room. They behave according to community standards. If they don't like the standards, they leave or get chased out. The administrators here are volunteers. They are not paid to be the bouncer at the door, checking for ID and credentials. The community supports them by giving lessons or reminders of what the standards are, in order to save them the effort and time needed to get some newcomers to behave. We would not BE members here for long if we flouted the rules. We don't mind teaching them to newcomers, but we do get annoyed at those who refuse to learn. I can think of a fairly lengthy list of folks who arrived and made mistakes, but altered their behaviour to become valuable members of the community. You clearly won't make that list. Since you didn't bother going to Elric's Guide to Lurker Lounge Etiquette, here are two of the relevant entries. Quote:1) On any forum, anywhere, LURK before you post. Generally it doesn't go down well commenting that you preferred tuna when it had dolphin in it on GREENPEACE! Likewise, if the Lurker Lounge doesn't quite fit for you, why post? You have earned your flames. Your response above gave me a good morning chuckle. It may be mean-spirited of me to laugh watching someone shoot himself in the foot, but you did do it all by yourself. A good rolePlaying game - Raz - 06-05-2003 So finally you'll live up to your name :) A good rolePlaying game - NiteFox - 06-05-2003 Uh, is it Zaek as in your account name, or Zeak as in the name on your signature? I'm not sure which is which. A good rolePlaying game - ithil - 06-05-2003 Quote:Uh, is it Zaek as in your account name, or Zeak as in the name on your signature? Go. |
