"1.09 left throw/normal throw bugs"

Yayyyy!!! 1.09!!!! Let's load it up and try my new barb idea, the swashbuckler! Sword in one hand, throwing knife in the other, usin double-swing, and left throw!

Hmmm...just pegged that fallen with a throwing knife that the character screen says does 6-16 dmg...and he's still alive. IIRC, fallen have 1-4 hp. So let's do some testing.

Findings: throwing weapons now apparently benefit 100% from both dex and str when calculating damage. My level 2 barb, using normal throw, slew 4 out of 6 of corpsefire's minions in ONE HIT. Corpsefire himself took three hits, and after two he was down to a pixel or six of life.

Okay, need a target for left throw. Hmm, a Garg Beast. 15 knives later, the thing keels over dead.

This is not looking good.

Apparently, left throw on a barb does either punching damage (woot!) or melee damage. More testing is needed. Also need to test with Double Throw, to see if it does the same thing. Normal throw apparently gets full benefit of both str and dex when calculating damage...considering that my clvl 2 barb with 30 str and 25 dex was doing 6-16 damage with throwing knives used in the right (sword?) hand.

Anyone else got some input? I though I had a cool idea, but it doesn't look like it's going to work until patch 1.10. Arrrgh! Now I have to do sword and dagger. Oh well.

According to the MPQ, throwing weapons get 75% of the str and dex bonuses, as opposed to 50% before.

Do the math. And remember to round.

clvl 2 barb
Str 30
Dex 25

Throwing knife ranged damage does 4-9

30+25=55 thus +55% damage
4 x (55/100) = {2}, thus 4+2=6 (min dmg)
9 x (55/100) = {7} (?), thus 9+7=16 (max dmg)

thats what I get. That's the calcs with full benefit of str and dex. And it proves the Character Screen...but the screen may be lying. As I said, more testing is needed. And I'm not all that qualified...I don't know half the stuff that people like Bolty, Sirian, Jarulf, etc. know. Spirea would be better off studying this than me.
